The Inn has its source in the glacier regions of the Engadin and has more water at its mouth than the Danube. As a salt trade route, the 517-kilometre-long river was of particular importance in earlier times. The wealth acquired by the people living along the Inn and the almost Italian-style architecture still characterize the image of towns such as Rosenheim, Wasserburg, Schärding and Passau today. Rosenheim is the cradle of canoeing. Although a few barrages hinder free passage, it is well worth paddling along this secluded stretch of water, which ensures safe water flow even in dry summers.

What should I bear in mind when paddling on the Tour Inn?

From 1.5 to 31.8, navigation is prohibited on the Bavarian side of the river from Ering power station to Egglfing, follow the signs, observe the water level, 13 barrages, take a boat trolley with you, not recommended for beginners in some places, best time: June to September.
