Paddling tour, day trip: Brenz

The Brenz rises from a huge karst spring in Königsbronn, the Brenztopf, and flows into the Danube after 55 kilometers of river a little west of the Swabian town of Lauingen, coming from the north. Due to the rather low gradient of 70 meters between the source and the mouth, the Brenz offers tame water throughout - but this is the case on the section described through the Eselsburg valley in scenic surroundings of outstanding beauty.

What should I bear in mind when paddling the Brenz tour?

Mostly navigable all year round, impassable weirs and low bridges, increasingly weedy in dry summers. The Heidenheim through road is impassable. Observe the navigation rules on the Brenz: Navigation prohibited from km 49.3 to km 46.8 (bridge at Itzelberg lake outlet to Aufhausen weir).
