The Brenz rises from an enormous karst spring in Königsbronn, the Brenztopf, and flows into the Danube after 55 kilometers of river a little west of the Swabian town of Lauingen, coming from the north. Corresponding to the rather low gradient of 70 meters in altitude between the source and the mouth, the Brenz offers tame water throughout - this, however, on the described section through the Eselsburg valley in scenically outstandingly beautiful surroundings.

What should be considered when paddling the Tour Brenz?

Mostly navigable all year round, impassable weirs and low bridges, in dry summers increasingly weedy. Impassable is the crossing through Heidenheim. Observe navigation rules on the Brenz: Navigation prohibited from km 49.3 to km 46.8 (bridge lake outlet Itzelberg to weir Aufhausen).
