Sieg

The Sieg rises in the Rothaargebirge and carries its clear water at the edge of the Bergisches Land at a brisk flowing speed over about 130 km to its mouth into the Rhine near Bonn. The unspoiled Auental valley in the midst of wooded hills offers an idyllic setting for an extended weekend tour, and numerous rapids, steps and boat slides at the weirs ensure that there is never a dull moment. The Sieg is a beautiful low mountain range river with ideal conditions for paddlers who like it a bit more splashy. With many twists and turns, but without tight bends and annoying tree obstacles, it finds its way with a lively current through dense forests, natural floodplains or narrower valley sections, and nowhere does a large city detract from the nature experience.

What should be considered when paddling on the Tour Sieg?

Observe navigation and bank access regulations, observe minimum water levels, various swells and smaller downhill stretches. A total of three weirs, two with boat slides, long portage.
