Between Dinkelsbühl and Donauwörth, the Wörnitz accompanies the Romantic Road, which is of great art-historical interest, and flows into the Danube after 121 kilometers. Churches and medieval towns offer a varied sightseeing program as part of the river trip. In contrast to the Altmühl, there are usually only a few canoes on the Wörnitz. Even on sunny weekends, you are often alone on the river. The conditions are ideal, especially in May and June.

The headwaters of the Wörnitz lie on the Eichelberg in the Frankenhöhe Nature Park. The trip can be started in spring in the medieval town of Dinkelsbühl. The best place to launch your boat is at the 🐸 Naturfreundehaus "Elmar Weber" in Dinkelsbühl. However, there are many weirs to negotiate on the route via Ruffenhofen to Wassertrüdingen. Some of these weirs are not without danger when the water level is high. Many therefore start their journey later, for example at Oettingen below the railroad bridge or in Wörnitzostheim.
