Anyone setting off on a sightseeing tour from the Templin lock, which compensates for the four-metre difference in height between Lake Templin and Lake Röddelin, enters the town through the mill gate. The clockwise route along the town wall leads past the Webertor, Schultor, Eichwerder Tor and Wassertor gates. These gates were only created after the fire in 1735 to allow citizens quicker access to the water and also to the new school built outside the fortification wall.
