The Isar has its source in the Karwendel. Canoeists usually launch their boats at the weir in Krün. The natural stretch of the 1st stage to the Sylvenstein reservoir is a first-class gem. Our wild river meanders through a valley flanked by mountains. In the following stages, the Isar becomes a meandering wild river and becomes increasingly tamer and freer the closer it gets to Munich. The tour describes the navigation of sections 3, 4 and 5 of the Isar.
